GERMAN DESTINY

UNEEST LAMENTED * LATE PRESIDENT'S HOPE ROCK OF KAISERDOM WAY OUT OF DESPAIR By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Received August JR. 6.25 p.m.) LERLIN, August 15 It is reported that before Herr von Pa pen left for Vienna he handed to Herr Hitler a document containing the late President Hindenburg's "political testament." This bitterly lamented the political and economic unrest in which Germany found herself. One passage asked: "When will a rock arise out of these troubled seas that will savo Germany, namely, a German Kaiser of the Reich ?" The "testament" eulogised Herr Hitler's work and proved that Marshal von Hindenburg was reconciled to the present regime. The publication is expected greatly to assist Herr Hitler's demand for unanimous support at Sunday's plebiscite. / The first part of the document is addressed to the German people by their Chancellor and written in 1919, "at a time of German despair." It recalled tho fact that, a century before, men who believed holiness to be their task founded a now Fatherland. The "testament" continued: "A wave a wild passions overwhelmed tho former constitution, but it will recede j again and will reveal the rock of j Kaiserdom, which our forefathers firmly grasped."

The second portion, dated May 2, 1934, referred to Marshal von Hindenburg's acceptance of the Presidentship in 1925 in order to lead the disunited and discouraged people to a consciousness of their unity. " I was convinced that the constitution which was adopted in our distress did not correspond with the people's needs or qualities," said the late President. " The hour must come when this belief will be generally accepted. I thank Providence that at the evening of my life Ho vouchsafed me an hour of re-birth. "Herr Hitler and his movement have taken a step of historic importance toward leading Germans to domestic unity, but much remains to bo done. I depart from my people firmly hoping that what I desired in 1919 and what slowly ripened to fruition on January 30, i 933, will lead to the fulfilment of Germany's historic destiny. In that firm belief in tho future of the Fatherland I can quietly close my eyes."

LEADER-CHANCELLOR LIFE STORY PUBLISHED PLEBISCITE PROPAGANDA BERLIN, August 15 Sixty million people to-day are reading the story of Herr Hitler's life told by Dr. Goebbels, Minister of Propaganda. It was published in all the morning newspapers by order of the Minister. This is the latest step in the campaign for Sunday's plebiscite on the new law appointing Herr Hitler LeaderChancellor of Germany. - EX-CROWN PRINCE FRIENDSHIP FOR FRANCE A TRIBUTE TO HITLER PARIS, August 15 The Berlin correspondent of Le Petit Journal telegraphs an interview ho had with the ex-Crown Prince of Germany. Wilhelm declared emphatically: "There will be no more war between France and Germany. I will use whatever future powers I may have to further friendship between tho two countries. "Foreign nations cannot understand the debt Germany owes to Herr Hitler. He possesses incomparable energy, and is just tho man we need to-day." NAZIS DEFENDED RECENT EXECUTIONS BRUTALITY DENIED LONDON, August 6 Even at Leipzig, Waterloo and Sedan Britain and France did not confront the last problems of their very existence, said tho Minister of Education, Dr. Rust, addressing the Teachers' Congress at Frankfort. He was replying to foreign inquiries as to whither Germany is marching. For the reason mentioned, said Dr. Rust, foreigners misunderstood Herr Hitler's execution of some of his former associates as portending a revival of the brutal Middle Ages. England and France, at tho end of that era, had united realms, whereas Germany emerged from tho Middle Ages torn and bleeding, and was now engaged in a fight for national unity and greatness. Tho real Nazi economy would be established only when all Germans became servants of the Nazi State. Nazi-ism would exist in tho schools when it was created by the new class of German teachers yet to be trained in order to create a new type of human being. Germany demanded that teachers in control of German youth must live and march with it as the people's army of tho future, like military officers. Other speakers emphasised tho necessity for impressing German youth with Germany's right to possess colonies.
