Miss Betty Mcßae, Palmerston North, is leaving at the end of the week for a brief visit to Auckland.

Kalaugher presided at the monthly meeting of the Devonport branch of the Plunket Society, held in Mark's Building yesterday. Mrs. J. N. Waddell was elected to the committee. The following was the nurse's report: —New babies, 8; visits to homes, 54; visits to rooms, adults, 266; babies, 225; children, 52; total, 543. The box money had amounted to £1 17s BJd. The annual meeting of the Rotorua Girl Guides was held this week, Mrs. H. Louden presiding. A successful year was recorded and the following officers were appointed:—President, Mrs. H. Louden; vice-presidents, Mesdames Wallis, Hitchcock, Roberts and Roe; secretary, Mrs. Coates; treasurer, Mrs. Tanner; committee, Mesdames W. A. McLean, James, Penno, R. Jones, Bullin, Harris, Hodgson, Callingham, Mason and Miss Robinson.

The members of the Stanley Bay Croquet Club held a bridge afternoon in the bowlers' pavilion yesterday. The prizes were won by Mrs. Prime, senr. (highest number) and Mrs. A. Callow (hidden number).
