BOXING
CONTEST 1 ON MONDAY NEXT TAYLOR MEETS AUSTRALIAN Seldom before have Auckland boxing patrons been offered a contest which promises tho thrillu of thot which will be staged ftt the Town Hall on Monday evening between Frank Taylor, tho Aucklander, who ia recognised as the best man of his weight New Zealand has produced for year's, and Dal Costa, the brilliant champion of New South Waleß. Neither man has any use for the clinging style of fighting, but prefers the open long-range methods, which not only are a delight to spectators, but which enable skilful boxers and heavy punchers to give of their best. Costa and Taylor both combine clever boxing with devastating punching and should provide a contest which will be packed with fight from fil'Bt to last. Eleven of Costa's 21 wins have been by the knockout route, while only one New Zealand professional bantam-weight has succeeded in going, the full distance with Taylor, whose only loss was to Teddy Green, the Australian champion, who won a close decision oh points. Never before have two such clever and hard-punching bantams met in New Zealand, and, if Auckland sportsmen fully realise what ft great bout is promised, the Town Hall should be well filled. An attractive programme of amateur contests has been arranged in support of the Jnsin bout.
