AUCKLAND CHAMPIONSHIPS NEALE EXTENDS MARTIN ANDERSON DEFEATS McCRYSTAL As a result of Inst evening's play in the Auckland provincial badminton championships at No. G shed King's Wharf the weaker players have been eliminated and splendid contests should be witnessed to-night in tho light for the right to enter tho concluding rounds. In th<' men's singles M. T. Wilson gained more supporters by a fairly decisive win over Mallctt. G. Martin, the Auckland title-holder, was fully extended by Noale, but his accurate smashing and clearing proved too good for the Central player in the deciding set. I. Ellett reached the semi-finals with a win over G. H. Philson. The latter fought hard, but was not quite tho equal of his opponent. It. Hull and Taylor gained a welldeserved success over Griffiths and Southon in the championship. Hull was always dangerous with vigorous smashing and fine retrieving, while Taylor was remarkably sale and made a number of openings for his partner. A feature of the evening's play was the defeat of J. McCrystal by P. Anderson. Anderson has come into prominence this season and with a little more experience should make one of Auckland's leading players. Following are tho results:—
