RESCUES IN STORM
THE ENGLISH COAST SMALL CRAFT IN PERIL MISHAPS AT COWES REGATTA By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright British Wireless RUGBY. August 12 A storm in the Channel and off the east coast of England imperilled many yachts and other small craft on Friday. A number of rescues were effected. Early in the morning the Clacton (Essex) lifeboat was launched to search for a pleasure steamer, Clacton Queen, which, with 600 passengers on board, was much overdue on a passage from Chatham. She arrived six hours late, at about 4 a.m. yesterday, with all on board safe. The storm completely spoiled the last days of the racing of the Royal Yacht Squadron regatta at Cowes, and several dinghies were capsized, but assistance was promptly at hand, and the occupants were rescued. The King and Queen will conclude a visit of two weeks to Cowes on Monday, when they will return by Royal train from Portsmouth to London.
