FAST FOOTBALL TWO REFEREES NEEDED INDIAN NATIVE PLAYERS CALCUTTA. August 2 To keep up with the play, Indian native Soccer needs two referees. The British Army in India will have only one, but wants him good. Following the refusal of both military teams to replay the Indian Football Association's Shield final on account of bad refereeing, the association has declared the competition null and void. The association asked the army authorities to agree to the tworeferee scheme, which, hitherto, they have refused to sanction, though it has worked very successfully with civilian teams in the past two seasons, because the bare-footed Indian football teams are too fast for one referee.. The association is considering the engagement of a professional referee from England for instructional purposes.
