LOSS OF AN EYE
ACCIDENT TO SMALL BOY STRUCK BY A GOLF BALL [by telegraph—press association] WELLINGTON. Monday A boy aged 11, Leslie Wallace, of Korokoro, lost an eye through being hit by a golf ball on the Petone Recreation Ground on Saturday. The boy was playing with the ball when a hockey team took the field, and one of the players struck the ball with his stick. The ball rose and struck the boy on the eye. He was admitted to the Wellington Hospital, where the ey« was removed. MISHAP TO RANGER CATCHING OF A HORSE [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] OPOTIKI, Monday While attempting to catch a horse serious injury to one of his eyes was suffered by Mr. James \ Parkinson, Opotiki borough ranger, as a result of coming in contact with a piece of bamboo from a hedge. He was attended by Dr. Candy, who advised his departure for Auckland for special attention. Mr. Parkinson was admitted to the Auckland Hospital this morning.
