JUNIOR CHALLENGE CUP The executive of the Auckland Hockey Association last evening decided to play a match between an Auckland team and the New Zealand Squadron on September 1. Advice was received from the Taranaki Association confirming August 25 as the d- I '- for the junior challenge cup match hit ,1 Auckland. Mr. R. Avery was uominr' .i aa Auckland's umpire and Mr. R. Newsnam was appointed manager of the Auckland team to meet Wellington in the shield match next Saturday. Arrangements were finalised for meeting the Australian touring team, which will arrive by the Wanganella on Friday morning. Regarding Devonport Shield matches it was decided to play two rounds on August 25 and the final round on September 8 at 1.50 p.m., to be followed at 3.5 p.m. by the Selectors' Cup match. Auckland v. The Rest. Second and third grade games will be played next Saturday prior to the shield match. The. curtain-raiser to the shield game will be a Beven-a-side midget game at 2.30 p.m. CHALLENGE FOR SHIELD The following team has been selected to represent Wellington in the Now Zealand Challenge Shield hockey match to be played against Auckland at Remuera next Saturday:—Goal: C. Moore; fullbacks. K. Falconer. O. K. Perrin; halves, J. Newport, E. McLeod (captain). P. A. Joblin: forwards. J. S. McDonald. T. Ferguson. R. Watchman. O. F. Wheatley, H, Williams. Emergency; P. J. Spiers Mr. J. L. McAlister will accompany the team as manager. Messrs. A. G. Williams and E. J. Hewitt have been appointed umpires. GAMES AT THAMES [BY TELEGRAPH OWN CORRESPONDENT] THAMES, Monday In a hockey match on Saturday for the Crease Cup Wandorers defeated Rovers by 4 Thames 10 High School defeated Hamilton High School by 11 goals to 1. In the junior match Thames won by 3 coals to 2. Old Girls drew with Kopuarahi. 2 goals each.
