Bryce, was fined £25 by the judicial committee after the running of the International Handicap at the New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club's meeting on Saturday for alleged interference with Harold Logan. Bryce has lodged an appeal. BLUE MOUNTAIN'S BREEDING A FAMILY OF GREYS The Auckland-owned grey pacing gelding Blue Mountain, winner of the August Handicap at Addington on Saturday, is remarkably well bred, and on the maternal side comes from a family of greys. He is by Blue Mountain King, a son of Ribbonwood, who was by Wildwood, grandson of Electioneer, a son of Hambletonian 10, from Dolly, by Young Irvington. whose sire Irvington was also by Hambletonian .10. Blue Mountain's dam. Mother Machree. was a grey mare by Emilius, a son of Rothschild and Imperialism, a goddaughter of Hambletonian Bell Boy. Her dnm Silver Princess, also a grey\ WHS by Prince Imperial, son of Hambletonian Bell Boy, from Barbara, by Young Irvington. Silver Princess in six successive years foaled five greys, including three to Brent Lccande and oue to W ilchvood Junior. with one exception all fillies, and black filly to St. Louis. Besides Silver Princess. Barbara produced Hedric, a grey mare who passed the colour on to many of her offspring, including Zenith, n, fine perfoimer and Ezvwurk, who returned a. sensational dividend at the recent meeting of the Lnristchurch Hunt Club. Mother Machree was a useful performer, but her chief successes were achieved in saddle races, in which department Blue Mountain was also proficient when he did his early racing in Southland. Blue Mountain was purchased by Mrs. I. b. Sweetopple, for whom he won many good races and in turn was secured by his present owner. Mr. M. J. Moodabe.

TRAINING AT HAWERA FLOWER BAG JUMPS WELL [my telegraph —OWN correspondent] HAWERA, Monday Tlio preparation of horses who are to race at the coming hunt meetings at New Plymouth provides the mum interest on the Hawera tracks at presont. The entries exceed all expectations On Saturday Flower Bag, who leaves lor Auckland to-morrow, gave an excellent exhibition over a round'of the steeplechase 'ences. He jumped faultlessly, and has only to repeat the display to bo very dangerous in his Pakujanga engagements. ' Carfex is galloping in great style and in a trial with Silver Wings performed very attractively, beating her decisively over half a mile in 50 1-sb, and registering the best time so far for the distance. C. Jackson has both Aga Khan and Diagano engaged at New Plymouth and the former has come to hand very quickly. On Saturday the two sprinted three furlongs in 157Js, finishing together, with Aga Khan going particularly well. Harvest Moon ngain gave a Bound display over a round of the schooling hurdles, jumping quickly and confidently. O. Cox's maiden Friesland showed a great turn of speed by sprinting a couple of furlongs in 24 1 / 2 s. . The hunter Cynical Kid. who has been showing exceptional pace for a hunter, stopped at one of the brush fences in a schooling bout, but afterwards wub persuaded over and jumped well. On Saturday he finished in front of Kaola and Crennatown over half a mile in 6'2}s. Silk Sox and Sandlark _ wore together at the end of four .furlongs in 51 is. Kaitcremai suffered no ill-effects from his recent escapade and was out doing solid* pace-work on Saturday. Kara sprinted nicely over three furlongs. She is to have a run on the second day at New Plymouth. T. Fryer's maiden Colossal is shaping well and soundly trounced Roso Ray over four furlongs in 52s St. Clara was allowed to run along over three furlongs on the plough ill 30s. The Aero mare Gold Gleam shaped well in a sprint over three furlongs on the grass in !ios. Gold Gleam has won races and lookn like doing further good service. Benedictine looks improved as a result of his race at Awnpuni and is working resolutely. The: Tiger is being kept at steady work, having done little sprinting.
