THEFT OF BICYCLE PROBATION FOR YOUTH "Accused went for a ride on the bicycle to test it, but unfortunately did not return," said Senior-Detective Hall in the Police Court yesterday, when Harry Feilding, aged 17, pleaded guilty to the theft of a bicycle valued at £l2 10s, at Hawera on May 14. I\lr. Hall added that accused had sold the machine at Palmerston North for 30s. Ho had not been before the Court before. Ho had been in custody for a week. The magistrate, Mr. W. I?. McKean, admitted accused to two years' probation and ordered restitution. A plea of guilty to a charge of stealing a watch valued at £5, the property of "Eileen Alice Lewis, on July 21, was entered by a domestic, Mavis Johnson, aged 20. On the recommendation of Major Annie Gordon, accused was admitted to 12 months' probation, and ordered to make restitution. Oh a charge of stealing three pairs of sports trousers, valued at £2 ss, the property of W. S. Dal toil, on Aumist 11, a labourer, Roland url Moore, aged 17, was remanded for a week.
