FORGED DOCUMENT
MONEY ORDER FORM NINE MONTHS' IMPRISONMENT For forging a form at Whangarei, giving him authority to receive payment of a money-order for ,C 1 16s sd, Edgar Allan Penney (Mr. Npble), came before Mr. Justice Herdman for sentence in tho Supreme Court yesterday. Mr. Noble said Penney was a relief worker, and some part of his wages was payable to his mother-in-law for the support of his children. Ho obtained an order for her one day, signed it, and secured tho money. He had subsequently made restitution. There is nothing in the police report or in the circumstances that would justify mo in taking a lenient yiew of the case," said His Honor. Penney had deliberately forged a document and taken the money. Ho had a list of previous convictions, and ho would bo sentenced to nine months' imprisonment, with hard Labour.
