NORTHCOTE WOMEN
■' -—♦ • A meeting of the Northeowi Women's Progressive League was heir,l on Thursday; afternoon. Mrs. A. Campbell presided. It was decided that the PostmasterGeneral should again be approached through the borough council, and the necessity emphasised of placing a public telephone call cabinet in a central position on the main highway in Onewa Road. It was further decided to remind the borough council of the urgent need of improved street lighting at the hill near the wharf, the present inadequate illumination leading to slight accidents.
Airs. Kenneth Gordon, president of the Civic League, gavo a talk on her war experiences, also a sketch from Dickens' "Bleak House."
