MUNICIPAL CHOIR BALL

A POPULAR FUNCTION The first annual ball of the Otahuhu Municipal Choir which was held in the Otahuhu Public Hall was a popular function. Over 800 members and friends thronged the floor dancing to excellent music provided by an orchestra under the direction of Mr. Reg. Morgan. The hall was attractively decorated with streamers, balloons, camellias and wattle. The programme was directed by Mr. H. Jones and the supper arrangements were supervised by a committee of ladies comprising Mesdames J. S. Smith, F. Philp, G. Smith, A. M. Salt, C. Olsen and Misses F. Hickson, D. Salt, D. Olsen, R. Sheffield, P. Matthews and N. Reid. An exhibition of ballroom dances was given by Miss Jean Home and Mr. Chapman. Cards were provided for non-dancers and the highest scorers were:—Bridge, Mesdames Crow and Cowper, and Messrs. Gardiner and Giles; "five hundred," Mesdames Wood and Hart and Messrs. Salt and McDonald.

Among thoso present were Mrs. J. S. Smith (conductor of the choir), wearing a frock of black georgette; Mrs. Parker-Hill, in delphinium blue lace with panne velvet wrap; Mrs. N. Walters, figured georgette; Mrs. A. G. Grinter, gold lace and black georgette; Mrs. F. P. Arnold, black georgette; Mrs. J. Hart, blue georgette; Mrs. R. Pengelly, black georgette; Mrs. H. Means, black and white crepe de chine; Mrs. E. H. Harris, floral silk; Mrs. J. Squire, black lace; Mrs. J. Parry, flowered lemon organdie; Mrs. C. A. McLean, old gold satin and lace; Mrs. Allison, gold taffeta; Mrs. A. M. Fraser, wine satin; Mrs. T. W. Day, red ninon; Mrs. D. Hfiab, black georgette; Mrs. W. I. Jones, blue brocaded taffeta; Mrs. W. Giles, brown satin; Mrs. Greenall, limegreen georgette; Mrs. E. R. Marcroft, nattier blue crinkle crepe; Mrs. F. Dando, white satin; Mrs. W. E. Harvey, navy matalasse;. Mrs. F. W. Todd, floral ninon; Mrs. A. M. Salt, black crinkle crepe; Mrs. A. J. Hayden, primrose satin; Miss L. Calvert, pink organdie; Miss R. Sheffield, black georgette; Miss B.
