FARMS INSPECTED
FIELD DAY AT PUTARURU [by'telegraph—OWN correspondent] PUTARUKU, Thursday The excellent quality of swede crops, ensilage, hay, pastures and dairy cattle in the Putaruru district was demonstrated at the second annual field day of the Putaruru Farmers' Union, held this week. At times nearly 50 farmers were present, while a party of over 20 boys, pupils of the Putaruru District High School, attended under the supervision "of the agricultural master, Mr. E B. Smith, and took notes on points raised during the da.v. Addresses were given by Mr. C. S. Dalgleish, fields instructor of the Department of Agriculture, Rotorua, and Mr. W. Smith. Various farms were inspected during the day. At Mr. White's house, aftej lunch, a lecture on animal diseases was given, by Mr. 1). Marshall, Agricultural Department, Hamilton. The results of the hay and ensilage competitions were announced as follows: —Hay: C. E. Walsh (Waotu Road), 1; H. W. Baldwin (Waotu Road). 2. Ensilage: C. Musker (Tirau), 1; H. W. Baldwin (Waotu Road), 2; W. J. Baldwin (Lichfield), 3.
