RUGBY DISPUTE
TAUMARUNUI SUB-UNION CLUB WITHDRAWS TEAMS [from otjr own correspondent] TAUMARUNUI. Wednesday Trouble which has arisen in connection with a match played under the auspices of the Taumarunui Rugby Sub-TJnion at taumarunui on July 25 was discussed at a meeting of the subunion this week. The match wats between Taumarunui and Manuriui, and, a Manunui Club official took exception to the referee's rulings. A letter was received from Mr. V. Verran tendering his resignation as .a member of the sub-uniou. "In resigning," wrote Mr. Verran, "I wish to state that I was appointed earlier in the year as representative of the Manunui Football Club, and it is on the club's instructions that I am resigning my membership of the Taumarunui Rugby Sub-Union, as the Manunui Football Club no longer desires representation on your sub-union." It was decided that Mr. Verran's letter be received and that the secretary write to him explaining the position. The secretary of the Manunui Football. Club, Mr. D. Brown, wrote as follows: —"This is to notify your union that the Manunui Football Club has decided to play no further games in the competitions in which it is now entered. This is for all three grades senior, junior, and third grade." It was decided that the_ matter be left over until next week in order to give the Manunui juniors and third grade players a chance to go on with their games if they wished.
