"ROBIN HOOD" FAIR
SUCCESS OF PAGEANT With the Town Hall transformed into Sherwood Forest by extensive and realistic scenery, and the attendants ill appropriate costume, a perfect setting was provided for the Bobin Hood Fair .yesterday afternoon. The fair is being held in conjunction with the pageantdrama "Robin Hood," in aid of the building fund of the Girls' Friendly Society. Stalls bearing a wide variety of goods were ranged round the walls and afternoon tea was served in the supper room by members of the society. There was a good attendance. A programme of dances was provided by the pupils of Miss Cecil Hall. Last night the hall was packed to the doors and many had to be turned away from the pageant, the final performance of which will be given to-night. Over .'2OO performers in period costume take part, in additions to a large hidden choir and a full operatic orchestra. There is also some delightful dancing by a ballet under the direction of Miss Cecil Hall. The pageant, which is in blank verse, is interspersed with songs, choruses and old English dances, the action being divided into three episodes, in the last of which King Richard and Queen Eleanor make their state entry with a full retinue. The fair also will be continued this afternoon, and to-morrow night the season will conclude with a "royal rout," an elaborate ball in period costume.
