SEQUEL TO COLLISION
LORRY-DRIVER ON TRIAL ALLEGATION OF NEGLIGENCE [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] WELLINGTON, Wednesday A sequel to an accident at Glenside, near Wellington, on January 13, in which two people were injured when a car went over a bank into a creek, was a case heard in the Supreme Court to-day. Cyril John Steer stood his trial before the Chief Justice, Sir Michael Myers, and a jury, on a charge of negligently driving a motor vehicle, thereby causing bodily injury.
The Crown Prosecutor, Mr. Macassey, said that accused was moving his furniture from Lower Hutt to Tawa Flat by lorry. It would be shown that ho and his companions before they started had two rounds of drinks at one hotel, three rounds at another, and took with them a gallon of beer. On tho way back a collision took place on a long straight road in bright daylight and when there was no. other traffic on the road.
