STEDMAN WINS A FINAL MALFROY'S DOUBLES VICTORY (Received July 22, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, July 21 In the final of the Frinton tennis tournament to-day Stedman (New Zealand) beat H. F. Culley (America), 6—l, 6—4, Yesterday Stedman had defeated .Aeschliman, 6—l, 6 —2. In an Anglo-Japanese match at Eastbourne Austin beat Fujikura, 6 —4, 6 —2, 6—l, and Perry beat Yamagishi, 9 —7, 6 —l, 6—B, 7 —5. In the doubles "yesterday Perry and Hughes had defeated Yamagishi and Nishimura, 4 —6, 3 —6, 6 —4, B—6,8 —6, 7 —5. The Japanese twice in the fourth set were within a point of match, at 5—4 and 6 —5. Hughes was weak throughout and Perry was lethargic. In the Manchester tournament to-day the final of the singles resulted:—Lyt-telton-Rogers defeated .Malfroy (New Zealand), 6—4, 4 —6, 6—4. In the doubles Malfroy and Lyttelton-Rogers defeated Grossmith and Pyemont, 4 —6, 6 —2, 6 —2, 10 —8. Yesterday in the singles Malfroy had defeated Aldred, 6 —2, 6—4. In the final of the women's singles in the Scottish championships at Peebles Miss Hartigan defeated Miss Noel, 5 —7, 14—12, 7—5. The final of the Army championship was won by Lieutenant Tuckey, who beat Clyton-Reed, 6 —4, 6 —2, 6 —3. This is Lieutenant Tuckey's fourth successive win.
