EARTHQUAKE RECORDS CONSIDERABLE INTENSITY REGISTRATION IN ENGLAND SIX IN SHORT PERIOD By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Received July 22, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON. July 21 Mr. J. J. Shaw, seismologist, of West Bromwifch, Birmingham, has recorded another earthquake of considerable intensity. Ho says the centre, apparently 10,500 miles from England, was in the locality of the New Hebrides, New Caledonia or Tonga, though possibly it was in the Solomons. The first shock was recorded at 7.39 a.m. and the seismograph needle was still moving at 10 a.m. • ~ Mr. Shaw says ho expects a tidal wave will follow. He registered another fairly strong shock at 12.30 p.m. about 6000 miles from England. The seismologist says there have been six big shocks within three and a-half days. He does not remember a previous instance of so many shocks in such a short period.

SOLOMON ISLAND CONTINUOUS TREMORS BUILDINGS BADLY DAMAGED SYDNEY. July 21 A message from Vanikoro, Santa Cruz, Solomon Islands, states that the worst earthquake in the history of that locality occurred on Thursday morning. The tremors commenced at midnight on Monday and continued until 7 a.m. on Thursday when the climax was reached. All buildings were badly damaged, but there were no casualties. Some of the inhabitants, however, were thrown to the ground. Natives left the fore-« shore and scampered to the bush. Further tremors are still being felt. PANAMA AFFECTED , DESTRUCTION IN A CITY. MUCH REBUILDING NECESSARY; PANAMA. July 20 David City, the third largest in the Republic of Panama, has been almost completely destroyed by. earthquakes in the last three days, according to the Premier, Senor Solis, who has completed an aeroplane survey of the area. " The city must be practically rebuilt," he declares. The canal zone hydrographic office reported five tremors on Thursday, making a total of 40 in the past three days.
