NOTTS AND LANCASHIRE

EFFORT TO KEEP PEACE. VOCE USES LEG FIELD (Received July 22, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON. July 21 The Daily Mail says that in spite of Lancashire's refusal to play Notts in 1935, this year's fixture was commenced to-day. The Notts committee, anxious to prevent exacerbation, had its secretary visit the players' room yesterday to appeal to them not to allow the dispute to affect the counties' relations. He received a reassuring reply. Larwood, playing against Lancashire, used the orthodox field, but Voce deliberately set a leg field and "bumped" his deliveries. Three times he struck Iddon, once on the chest, and the Uatsman fell writhing. This angered the Lancashire crowd.
