TEA-TREE IN LONDON
Considerable interest was displayed at the recent Clielsea flower show, the foremost display of its kind in England, in a group of the beautiful red* variety of manuka. A prominent \ feature of the show Is the exhibition of specially laid-out gardens. In one of these, a number of well-grown tea-tree shrubs in full flower-formed the centre piece in a lawn, and was the object of admiration of many of the enthusiasts present. The korokio, a small native shrub with red berries, was also prominently exhibited. Another New Zealand plant, which, owing to the difficulty of its propagation, is seldom seen ( in gardens in the .Dominion, the mountain buttercup, appears to do well in England. One visitor to the show, who was known to have attempted to cultivate this most beautiful of the mountain plants, was asked by a Now Zenlander what success he had had. Quite unconcerned, lie replied that he had between 200 and 300 in bloom at that time.
