Mrs. Roes-Jones, Wellington, is at the Grand Hotel. Mrs. Gray Thorne George, Paeroa, is at the Hotel Cargen. Mrs. Keith Angus, Auckland, is the guest of her mother, Mrs. P. G. Carthew, New Plymouth. Lady 801 l and Miss Enid Bell, Lowry Bay, who have been visiting Java, have returned to Wellington. Mrs. James Catherwood and her daughter, Mrs. Russell Cordery, Christchurch, are visiting Auckland. Mrs. G. C. M. Nuthall, Maungakiekie Avenue, has returned from a visit to Wellington and New Plymouth. Mrs. T. G. B. Winch, Courtville, who has been visiting Christchurch, is now the guest of Mrs. J. S- Elliott, Wellington. „ Mrs. J. MacDiarmid, Tauranga, Mrs. G. Taylor and Mrs. J. Gensen, Wellington, and Mrs. A. Hutchings, Rotorua, are at the Station Hotel. Miss Molly Findlay and Nurse Eileen Reid, of Auckland, are due to leave Hongkong to-day on furlough to New Zealand. Both are on the! staiF of the New Zealand Presbyterian Mission in Canton, Miss Findlay as business manager of the Kong Chuen Hospital and Nurse Reid as a nurse there. Mrs. W. Verran presided at the monthly meeting of the Bclmont-Bays-water branch of the League of Mothers held in the Presbyterian Church at Belmont yesterday. The hostesses were Mrs. W. Verran, Mrs. Wallwork, Mrs. G. Phillips and Mrs. Service. A talk on a visit to the East was given by Mrs. McKinney.j Mrs. Currie singing Eastern songs. *

The weekly concert at the public hospital, arranged by Mrs. Racburn and Mr. A. Hamblin, was held in Ward 2 on Wednesday evening. The programme consisted of songs, duets, elocution, dancing and instrumental items. A large number of patients was also present from other wards. Those taking part were- Mesdames Balfe, Ernest Asher, Misses Aldwvth Dunn, Margaret McCarthy. Beatrice Balfe, Mr. W. Bronan, and Master Dallas Lichman. The accompaniste was Madame Dunn.

A bridge afternoon was civen by the Stanley Bay Croquet Club yesterday in the bowlers' pavilion. Mrs. ". v. JBremner receivine the players. The prizes were won by Mrs. L. Cusworth (highest number) and Mrs. Stirling (hidden number). Among the players were: Mrs. W V. Bremner, Mrs. L. Cusworth. Mrs. A. Callon, Mrs. Purser, Mrs. Chapman. Mrs. Wyatt. Mrs. Donaldson. Mrs. Ross, Mrs. W. Robinson, Mrs. Burjihan. Mrs. Stirling, Mrs. D. Jones, Mrs. Webster, Mrs. McMasters. Mrs. Bertrand, Mrs. W. Grinter. Mrs. Dentith, Mrs. Palmer. Mrs. Hiorrmg, Mrs. Dance, Miss Black.

A report upon the recent meeting of the National Council of Women was presented by Mrs. Robinson to members of the Remuera branch of the Women's Christian Temperance Union. The president, Mrs. H.. Kasper, presided. Mrs. Gilmour, formerly of Invercargill, was welcomed and gave a greeting from the southern branch. Several of those present volunteered to help with the Women's Christian Temperance Union stall at the Winter Show, it was decided to send a telegram to the Prime Minister stating that the branch strongly supported the Bible in Schools Enabling Bill. The president had brought books to form a library and several members oifercd to supply other books? Afternoon tea was served by Mrs. Ready and Miss Bond.
