FIRE AT DEVONPORT
MINOR DAMAGE CAUSED SCENE OF FORMER OUTBREAK The desire of a former occupier to see what remained of his old home, which was extensively damaged by fire about three weeks ago, led to the discovery of a further outbreak last evening. The fire was in its early stagc3 and was suppressed without difficulty. The house, a two-storeyed building of 15 rooms, in May's Street, Devonport, was gutted on June 30, when the five occupants had to make a hurried escape in the. early hours of the morning. The building is owned by the H. D. Clow estate and since the fir o had been unoccupied. Last evening, Mr. F. Standish, of .Cambridge, who conducted the hoUSQ as a boarding establishment about four years ago, was visiting Mr. H. B" Moore, who lives next door, and exjircssed a wish to see what < lnning o had been done. "With Mr. Moore h fl went into the .house, which was open, and they discovered that a small area of the kitchen floor was alight. The Devonport fire brigade was summoned and the fire extinguished, the only damage being a hole about £ across.
