DICKENS FELLOWSHIP
The study of Charles Dickens' book "Martin Oliuzzlewit" was continued by the Dickens Fellowship last night before a large attendance. The president, Mr. 'T. C'larkson. presided. -Mr. G. S. Builen, who had charge of the programme, spoke on Dickens' first visit to America and the effect it had on his literarv work and especially on the book under study. Chapters 21 to 2o were reviewed, and readings from them were given as follows:—"The Tram Journey from Now York. Mr. 1). A. Neil; "Martin's Levee." Miss M. Manning "Arrival at the Valley of Eden, Mr.°J. W. Keaiy; "Tom Pinch's Attank on Jonas," Mr. G. S. Bullen; "Merry Pecksniff's Love Affair,' Dr. C. 11. Tewslev; "Mrs. Gamp Visits Mr. Mould," Mrs. Kenneth Gordon. During the evening Mrs. Kenneth Gordon and Mr. T. C'larkson reported on the flourishing condition of kindred fellowships recently visited in Christchurch and Wellington.
