MODEL YACHTING
ORAKEI BASIN CLUB There was a large attendance of members and visitors at the arfnual prise night of the Orakci Basin Model Yacht Club. The Prizes made a splendid showing, and included a large number of cups and miniatures. The president. Mr. A. Bevins, sen., in extending a welcome to the visitors, said the club had made great progress since its formation five years ago. The Ornkei basin was ideal for model yachting, and now the pier had been completed, tho facilities for carrying out the sport were greatly appreciated. In tho near future it was tho aim of the club to enlarge the clubhouse. Mr. A. R. Bevins. club „ captain, said racing had been carried out almost every Saturday from October 27 to June 9. I lie membership had increased to CO. including 20 juniors. During tho year special attention had been paid to the junior division, with the result that the bovs had made oreat progress in handling their models. The club had purchased three new dinghies and would start the new season with a credit balance of £l3. In the inter-club contests the Orakci boats had met with success, winning both the 3ft. and -'ft, restricted classes. ~ * Mr. Bevins paid a tribute to the excellent Rei:yico rendered by Mr, F.
