VICIOUS SPARROW HAWKS
in describing the ferocity of the Now Zealand sparrow hawk, Mr. E. F. Stead, in an address in the south recently, said that on one occasion ho wanted a friend to stand up and let a hawk dive at him so that the speaker could get a photograph. " Tho hawk pounced all right," lie continued. "It seized my friend's cap in its claws and flow across a ravine with it, dropping it so that ho had to climb down 400 ft. to recover it. Ho was not nearly so amused as I was."
