LEAGUE OF MOTHERS
Kohimarama. —At the meeting of the Kohimarama Leaguo of Mothers Mrs. Harold King gave a talk upon Maori customs, legends, etc. She also saiu: a number of songs and chants in Maori and English, and was accompanied b? Mrs. McKinncy. Mrs. Littlejohn, presided. Hostesses for tea worn Mesdames Lediard, Eady, Wilson and White.
Sundringham.—Tho annual meeting of the Sandringham -branch of the League of Mothers wan held recently. Mrs. Wright presiding. A comprehensive report of a most successful year's work was given by tho secretary, Mrs. Utting, and a good credit balance was reported by Mrs. Carey. The followine officers were elected: —-President, Mrs. Wright; vice-presidents, Mesdames Ha}" Hvnes and Wilson; secretary, Mrs. Utting; treasurer, Mrs. Rich and a committee of 10 ladies. Mrs. Wh.vte, provincial secretary, cave an address on "Leisure," in which she deplored tho manner in which many killed time in hours of idleness and 'in degenerate and unprofitable amusements. Vocal solos rendered by Mesdames Bush and "Walpole were highly appreciated, and afternoon tea brought a pleasant gathering to n close. Tho Waimauku branch meeting of tho League of 'Mothers was presided over by Mrs. T. Charter. A humorous sketch entitled " For Lovo of Appin" was much enjoyed by members. Those taking part were: Mesdames C. A. Jackson, Theo Kerr-Taylor, Morrison and H. Cane. Two now members were enrolled. Tho hostess for tea was Mrs. L. Wightman, assisted by Mesdames G. Wightman and P. W. Bell.
