COMPENSATION SOUGHT
CLOSING OF RADIO STATION " MADE ' THE SCAPEGOAT " [BY TELEQHAPH —SPECIAL .XIEPOHTER] WELLINGTON. Thursday " Other countries havo honoured their pioneers in broadcasting, but I have been made the scapegoat among 13 class stations in Auckland," says Roy ]£eith, radio specialist and broadcasting operator,, in a petition presented to Parliament to-day praying for the reinstatement of his broadcasting station 3ZQ, or compensation for its loss. " " On April 1, 11)33, my station was closed by the department on account of mv committing an alleged breach of the regulations, but there was positively no justification for this drastic fiction," continues the petition. " What I was doing was not a breach of the regulations but merely a wrong interpretation fmt on the regulations by a departmental oliicer in Auckland. Tlio alleged offence I was supposed to have committed was the same as all other B class broadcasting stations. Mine was the oldest broadcasting station in New Zealand and if the department is determined to close down B class stations, then it should have treated me the same as other B'class stations by compensating me for the loss sustained. Sly only living was by broadcasting and I am unable to accept any other form of Vork because of foresight."
