INTER-ISLAND CONTEST ATTRACTION FOR SATURDAY THAMES VALLEY-AUCKLAND B Arrangements for tho North v. South Island trial match to be played at Eden Park next Saturday were finalised at last evening's meeting of the management committee of the Auckland Rugby Union. The chairman, Mr. H. Frost, reported that, as a result of tho request from the Paeroa Union for a match with an Auckland team, ho had arranged for the Parnell Club ic visit Paeroa. Mr. Frost stated that Mr. W. Spnckman would act as manager. Mention of the death of the late Colonel A. Pluggo, of Taupiri, was made by the chairman, regret being expressed at sucli an old stalwart being lost to the game. As a mark of respect members stood in silence. A letter was received from tho Auckland Cricket Association requesting assistance in the financing of its scheme to engage an English professional coach for tho 1931-35 season. It was agreed to donato £5 toward tho Auckland Cricket Association's fund. The transfers of P. Rennie, from Marist to Northcote, and T. G. Bain, from Y.M.C.A. to Parnell, which were recommended by the emergency committee, were approved. An application from tho Grafton Club for permission to travel to Tauranga next Saturday was granted.
