FIRE DESTROYS HOUSES
FAMILY ABSENT AT TIME LACK OF WATER SUPPLY [from our own correspondent] TE AROHA, Sunday A fire broke out shortly after 9 o'clock last night in a six-roomed house in Hikutaia Street, Ruakaka, occupied by Mr. Robert Miller Taylor. Owing to lack of water the fire brigade was unable to extinguish the flames, and the residence and practically the whole of tho contents were quickly _ demolished. Mr. Taylor was absent in Hamilton, and Mrs. Taylor and the younger children were in Te Aroha at the time. OUTBREAK AT LEAMINGTON HOME TOTALLY DESTROYED [from our own correspondent] CAMBRIDGE, Saturday A five-roomed house, owned and occupied by Mr. H. 1). Hills, of Leamington, was totally destroyed by fire in the early hours of the morning. The fire had a good hold when discovered and little was saved. Tho district is out of tho fire control area. The house was insured for £520 in the British Traders' Office, and the furniture' and effects for £l5O in tho Atlas Insurance Company.
