The singles yesterday resulted as follows: —Boussus (Franco) defeated Matejka, 6—l, 6—l, 6—4; Merlin (France) defeated Metaxa, 4 —6, 8 6, 6—2, 6—2. In the doubles to-day Borotra and .Brugnon (France) defeated Artens and Metaxa, 4—6, 6—3, 6—3, 6—4. Borotra had not arrived at 3.30 p.m. when tho doubles match was duo to start. It was decided to wait three minutes. Borotra Arrived at 3.35 p.lll. and Artens, tho Austrian captain, refused to play and claimed the match. 1 hereupon it was awarded to Austria. Ten minutes later, however, Artens changed his mind and tho match was played. / At Lucerne, Switzerland has eliminitinted India. In the singles yestoiday Kilmer (Switzerland) defeated Sleem, ]/—6, 6—2, 6 —3, 6 —o; Fisher (Switzerland) defeated Bhandari, 6—l, 6—2, 7—o. Tho doubles match to-day was also won by Switzerland.
