FLIGHT DELAYED

FAITH IN AUSTRALIA FAULT IN AN ENGINE NEW PARTS MAY BE NEEDED As a result of engine trouble there is a possibility that the aeroplane Faith in Australia, which arrived from Wellington yesterday afternoon preparatory to leaving for Australia, will be delayed in Auckland for a week or two. Mr. C. T. P. Ulra said last night that the one engine' of the aeroplane which had been examined in Wellington had been rectified as far as possible, but on the journey yesterday it did not function completely satisfactorily. Mr. R. N. Boulton, the engineer, would therefore take the engine down to-day and make a thorough investigation. This course had been decided upon rather than that the unnecessary risk should be taken of Hying the Tasnian with a faulty engine. It might be that some part or parts would have to be renewed, and the duration of the delay would depend upon whether those parts could be obtained in Australia or whether they would have to be secured from America. On the other hand, 110 new parts might be needed and the delay in that event would only be for a day or two. In any case, the machine would bo remaining in Auckland to-day and to-morrow.

The Faith in Australia landed at Mangere aerodrome at 2 p.m. yesterday and was later flown to the Hobsonville air base. The temperature of tlie engine was a few degrees higher than normal, following the repairs effected in Wellington. Mr. Ulm left the Rongotai aerodrome at 11 a.m. on Saturday, accompanied by Mr. Nisbet, secretary of the Wellington Aero Club, in one of the club's aeroplanes, in order to attend to business matters at New Plymouth. Tests of the Faith in Australia were carried out in Wellington on Saturday afternoon, and Mr. G. U. Allan, co-pilot, flew in the machine yesterday morning to New Plymouth, where Mr. Ulm rejoined the "party, the flight to Auckland being resumed immediately.
