ROBBERY AND VIOLENCE WANGANUI YOUTHS SENTENCED [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] WANGANUI, Friday The Chief Justice. Sir Michael Myers, to-day sentenced Herbert Woodham, aged 18, and Thomas Benjamin Raymond, 19, to five years' Borstal detention for robbery and violence. The offences occurred at a petrol station at 1.30 a.m. on May 9, when the attendant, Charles Herbert Quinlan, was attacked and hound, and the premises were ransacked. His Honor said he had grave doubts whether he should order a Hogging. but on account of the prisoners' youth he would not do so. But for the fact that Quinlan, who was hit on the head with a batten several times, had a thick skull and was of stood physique, the prisoners would probably have had to face a much more serious charge.
