CHANGEABLE CONDITIONS INLAND FROSTS LIKELY The weather report and forecast for New Zealand issued by the Government meteorologist hist evening was as follows: —Thei.situation of the recent storm area has moved eastwards, and an intense and extensive anticyclone is advancing across tho Tasman Sea Tho indications are for southerly winds' moderate to strong, but gradually del creasing. Seas rough north of Farewell Spit and south of East Cape, elsewhera moderate. In tho eastern Tasman Sea moderate to fresh southerly winds with moderate to rather rough seas' The weather is likely to be fine in the western districts of the South Island and elsewhere changeable* with scatl tered showers, but gradually impro-r. ing, except between Hawke's Bay and East Cape. Cold temperatures, within, land frosts.
SPECIAL "WEATHER FORECAST COLD AND SCATTERED SHOWERS The Government meteorologist issued' to tho Hep. ald last night the following special weather forecast for the Auckland district: —Moderate to fresh southerly winds. The weather is likely to be cold arid changeable, with scattered showers, but improving gradually. YESTERDAY'S WEATHER Auckland. —There was a considerable improvement in the weather yesterday, tho day being fine, with a cold southwest wind blowing. The barometer rose slightly and was steady at its normal reading lasti evening. Barometer, midnight, steady .. ■ 30,00 in. Midnight, Sunday . . . . 29,95 in, Wellington. —The weather was clear to cloudy in the morning and dull and showery during the afternoon. A cold southerly breeze prevailed. The temperature at 4 p.m. was 46.2 degrees and the maximum during the day 50.7 degrees. weather yesterday was overcast and showery, with a prospect of more rain last night. The maximum temperature was 48.6 degrees, and the minimum 41.5 degrees. Dunedin.—There was a continuation of wintry weather yesterday. Conditions wore very unsettled, rain falling at intervals throughout the day. A light south-west wind was blowing, making the atmosphere cold, and the maximum temperature was 45 degrees.
