VICEROY AND GANDHI

RAPPROCHEMENT DESIRED WOMEN DISCIPLES' EFFORTS CALCUTTA. May 6 Miss Muriel Lester and Miss Agatha Harrison, English disciples of Gandhi, arc on the way to Simla to endeavour to secure a rapprochement between the Viceroy, the Earl of Willingdon, and Gandhi, now that the latter has decided to suspend civil disobedience. The Viceroy is to fly to England on May 15, and it is believed the women will endeavour to induce him to advise the Secretary for India, Sir Samuel Hoare, to consult Gandhi on the Congress viewpoint before the final touches are given to the White Paper on the constitutional proposals.
