ACCIDENT WITH GUN OPOTIKI MAN IN HOSPITAL [BY TELEGRAPH —OWN correspondent] OPOTIKI, Monday Suffering from gunshot wounds in both legs, Mr. Frank Young* a single man, son of Mr. A. Young, of Opotiki, was admitted to the hospital last flight. He and hiis brother were in a motorcar, and they stopped at Hukuwai with the intention of going across a paddock after pheasants. Another car, containing Messrs. T. Moody and W. Young, pulled up behind the first car, from which the occupants had alighted. Mr. Young and his brother were about to get through a fence when the loaded gun held by Mr. Moody caught on the door of the car as he was getting out. The gun went off, the full charge entering both legs of Mr. Young. The injured man, who was bleeding profusely, was conveyed to theliospital, where an operation was performed. His condition to-day is reported as satisfactory. BULLET IN BODY FARMER'S SERIOUS INJIJRY [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] HASTINGS, Monday A farmer of Patoka, Mr. Frederick H. A. Burling, aged 32 years, was seriously injured this afternoon by a bullet from a .22 calibre rifle. Burling was rabbit-shooting on his property when he struck the ground with the butt of his rifle, which discharged at the impact. He successfully underwent an operation at a late hour to-night, but his condition is still critical. BOY WOUNDED IN SHOULDEB SHOOTING GALLERY MISHAP [BY TELEGRAPH—OWN CORRESPONDENT] WHAKATANE, Monday While changing a target at a shooting gallery in the Strand on Saturday night, W. Mokomoka, the 13-vear-ol'.l son of Mr Albert Mokomoka, was wounded in the right shoulder as the result of the accidental discharge of a pea-riile. The lad was taken to tho hospital, where tho bullet was extracted. The patient is progressing satisfactorily.
