"BIBLE MARATHON"

NEW TESTAMENT READING A continuous reading of the whole of the New Testament, which was commenced at tho Salvation Army Hall in Ponsonbv Bead at one o'clock yesterday morning, was completed at 7.32 p.lll. yesterday. Tho reading was part of a Bible week-end organised by Captain and Mrs. H. G. Wallace, of the Newton corps, and 85 readers took part. It was described by tho organisers as a " Bible marathon," and attracted considerable interest, there being a constantly changing audience in the hall throughout tho day. Six readers commenced the " marathon," and took spells of a chapter each until daylight when they were relieved. During the day a number of women took part, readers continuing at their own pleasure, some for only a few verses, and others for two or three chapters. There was a demonstration last evening, when about 300 people attended. The divisional commander, Major S. Hayes, presided, and an address was given by Mr. X. H. Mclvin.
