VISIT OF BOXERS
AUSTRALIAN TEAM ARRANGEMENTS FOR TOUR THREE WEEKS IN DOMINION AT AUCKLAND [by telegraph—own cobrf.spoxdext] WELLINGTON, Monday The team of Australian amateur boxers who will visit the Dominion this year should give a great fillip to the sport in this country. A sub-committee of the New Zealand Boxing Council has recommended that the Australia v. New Zealand match should be boxed at Invercargill on October 8 and 9, the Southland Boxing Association having agreed to the guarantee asked for by the council. The New Zealand Boxing Council has suggested* the following itinerary for the tour: —October 4, arrive at Wellington from Sydney by the Monowai; October 8 and 9, against New Zealand representatives, at Invercargill; October 15, against Auckland, at Auckland; October 28, leave Auckland for Sydney by the Marama. It is estimated that the tour will cost in the vicinity of £430. The New Zealand Council will be responsible for a party of 10, eight boxers, a manager and a trainer, but there is a possibility of additional boxers making the trip. The team will be selected after the State championships in Australia, and it is probable that for the most part the same boxers who fought against the New Zealanders at. Brisbane last year will be chosen. As the New Zealanders will have just completed the Dominion championships at Hastings they should be in their best form. The Australians will be three weeks in the Dominion and they will have to box on only four nights. A visit to Rotorua is among the possibilities of the tour. The secretary of the New Zealand Boxing Association, Mr. G. P. Aldridge, stated to-day that the Australian team may yet travel by' steamer from Melbourne to Bluff.'
