GENERAL COMPETITION STEADY RATES REALISED LONDON, May 3 At the London wool sales to-day 6721 bales wore offered, including 5305 from New Zealand, and 5298 were sold. There was good general competition and most of the offerings sold at steady rates. New Zealand clips sold as follows: —Greasy Merino, "Birchill," Marlborough, top price, 20d; average, 17 7-Bd. Scoured Merinos, "Flockhill," 31 d and 29^1. H. Irwcll and Company, London, report that the sales opened with general competition but with prices slightly easier, fine wools being 5 per cent down, while medium and coar.se were 10 per cent lower.
