BANK OF NEW ZEALAND SUIT AGAINST GUARANTOR (Received April 20. 10.25 p.m.) SYDNEY. April 20 The actios was concluded to-day in the Supreme Court, Sydney, in which the Bank of New Zealand proceeded against John Wren, of Melbourne, an investor. The bank claimed £15.225 in respect of a guarantee. It alleged that money was Jidvanced to A. C. Cooke. Limited, on "Wren's guarantee and that the whole 1 sum, plus the interest, was now due, but had not been paid. Wren denied the effect of the guarantee and contended that the bank, without his consent, advanced to Cooke, Limited, an amount in excess of the sum originally stipulated, which was the subject of a cross action. Mr. Justice Halse Rogers directed the jury to return a verdict for plaintiff for the full amount claimed. Wren also failed on his cross action for £18,2.25. A stay of proceedings was granted.
