A COLOUR COUNCIL
IN FASHION'S REALM Every dress accessory will have a special colour significance this season, and either ensure contrast or complete harmony. So important will be the part played by gloves, handbags and belts, as well as shoes and stockings that for the first time the British Colour Council, which has sponsored the new list of shades, . has issued the range of shades in which they will bo made. Gloves, bolts and handbags will appear in rose dawn, lilac grey and woodash; dark Burgundy is a new colour for shoes, and Chelsea brown the latest suggestion for stockings. Hero are some of the sights bf autumn that have inspired the colours of women's coats, hats, frocks and even their gloves, shoes and stockings: Young chrysanthemum leaves, the hunting field, a shooting party, the turn of the leaf, the grapo harvest and the gardener's fire. The new shades that symbolise these autumn memories bear such descriptivo names as: Chrysant green—a young leaf green; Tallyho—a vivid flame reminiscent of hunting pink; Covert—a greyish beige; Plumage blue —a deep ultramarine; October gold—a shade of orange; Beech brown—soft, but dark brown; Grape juice—a light wine shade; AVoodash —a cross between browu and grey. Vivid tones for evening will provide a contrast to these soft shades for day wear. Royal mauve, thriller (an exotic red shade), and Cavalcade (the shade of bright pink associated with the " Naughty 'Nineties ") will all bo seen in the ballroom during the season.'
