BOUND FOR RUSSIA
WORKERS' REPRESENTATIVES SCENE AT DEPARTURE A noisy scene marked the departure from Fremantle recently of the Jervis Bay, on which eight representatives of Australian workers are travelling to visit Russia. For half an hour beffpre the vessel left passengers waved British flags and sang patriotic songs. The delegates, and a small group of their friends ashore, were silent. However, as the liner was about to leave her berth, red streamers were thrown by the delegates, and a young woman called for three cheers for the Soviet Union. The singers then renewed their efforts. When three cheers were given for the flag, someone on the wharf hooted. The noise continued untij one of the ship's stewards. began t® play well-known British songs - 011 & cornet.
