HAMILTON UNION'S SEASON ELECTION OF OFFICERS [/•ROM ouil OWN correspondent] HAMILTON, Friday There was a large attendance of club delegates at tho annual meeting last evening of the Hamilton Rugby Union. The president, Mr. W. Eraser, presided. It was set out in the profit and loss account that there had been a loss on tho year's working of £ll 18s 3d. The gate and stand takings amounted to £385. a decrease of £'os, compared with the previous season. It was staled that this decrease was largely due to the lack of representative fixtures at the end of the season.
On notice of motion, submitted by the Marist Brothers' Old Boys' Club, it was decided to fuvourably recommend to the management committee. "That the Clarko Cup competition be abolished und that the trophy bo donated to the runners-up in the senior championship. That the Hamilton Rugby Union's senior teams take no part in the Finlay Cup games, as at present conducted. That no senior club fixtures be held on the dates of representative matches, when the Hamilton team takes part." It was also decided to ask the management committee to consider the recommendation that at least three rounds be played in the senior championship competition for the Sage Memorial Cup. A. de la Mare: junior advisory board, Messrs. ,T. Adams, T. E. Mills, IST. O'Hallorau, J. Cameron, A. P. Kelson. L. Dny, A. J. Cross und E. J. L. "Whiting (secretary). At tho conclusion of the meeting the chairman, Mr. N Fraser, said , that he considered many of the senior players did not train properly. He thought there was some grounds for criticising local Rugby, but he did not think any particular section of the players or the management could be isolated for criticism. Friday The Waipa, Rugby Union's :ae\vly-consti-tuted junior advisory board held its inaugural meeting last evening, the union president. Mr. J. G. "VVynyard, presiding. Mr. "W. Whitton was elected chairman, Mr. S. Ahier secretary, and Mr. H. Worthington delegate to the union's management committee. Prosrects were considered bright, but as entries do not close until next Thursday it was impossible to del ermine how many teams would be competing in the junior and third grade championships. THE WAIHI UNION [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] WAIHI, Friday The annual meeting of the Waihi Rugby Football Union was held last night. The president. Mr. J. McDermott. was in the chair. The report showed that the past season had been a successful one, while the outlook for the. coming Beason was bright. Aided by a loan of £(>00 from the New Zealand Union, a new playing field had been acquired and equipped, including the erection of a grandstand, capable of seating upwards of 250 persons, at a cost of £450. Officials were elected as follows: Patron, Mr. .W. M. Wallmitt, vicepatron, Mr. G. Neil; president, Mr. J. McDermott; active vice-presidents, Messrs. J. Talbot, M. Arbuckle, M. Brown. W. Morrison, J. Moorhead, and H. Wroe: honorary vice-presidents, Drs. L. R. Hetherington and F. M. Barrowclough, Messrs. J. B. Beeche, J. Hicks, A. Carter, F. C. V. Clark, J. Weedon. W. H. Toy. W. Parr, R. A. Parker, A. Osborne, S. Tanner, H, Franklin, C. Hands, E. Radford, W. Bottomley, S. 'Miller, M. F! Hasjjard. P. Brady, G. R. Cullen, H. Wrigley, McDonald, J. Pivac, J. Moran, A. T. Maunder; chairman of management committee, Mil. J. McDermott; secretary, Mr. C. Burt; management committee, Messrs. A. Ellis, J. Thorpe, D. McPherson, S. "Ashby, L. McGonagle, T. Johns, A. Pearce. C. O'Neill; auditor, Mr. E. C. Westbury: delegates to Thames Valley Rugby Union, Messrs. J. McDermott, A. Pearce, and C. Burt. It was decided to officially open the season on April 21.
