FANATICAL NATIVE SECT
Iwo years ago a small group of Kikuyu natives, trembling under the stress of religious emotion ami uttering cries like lions and wild dogs, appeared at a small country court in Kenya charged with holding an illegal meeting. I hey were early members of a strange new fanatical sect called the Watu wa Mungu, or " Men of God," whose activities in the Kijabe area caused the Government to take prompt action recently. It had been reported by settlers that large numbers of poisoned arrows and spears were being manufactured secretly in the district. A number of European women left their farms in consequence and returned to Nairobi. The Government has now prohibited the carrying of arms in the district and states that the situation is well in hand.
