EASTER CONFERENCE The Hotel Majestic, Paraparamu (Wellington), overlooking the beautiful island of Ivapiti, makes an ideal spot for the National Conference of the Y.W.C.A., which opened hist week. Delegates are present from Whangarei. Auckland, Hamilton, New Plymouth. Palmerston North, Wellington, Christchurch, Timaru and Punedm. Miss Jean Stevenson, national general secretary, is the leader, and Mrs. Ffitcli, of Wellington, is the hostess. A comprehensive programme has been arranged for recreation and study, allowing plentv of time for enjoying the fine weather and holiday facilities. The theme of the conference is ''Creative Citizenship" and group studies are taken by Dr. Cyprus Mitchell, Wellington, on "Some Contemporary Religious Movements," with special reference to the Barthian and Oxford Group Movement, by Miss Marjorie Black, M.A., Dunedin', 011 "Principles of Creative Citizenship." "The business Women 3 World," is the subject of Miss L. Bridgman's study, and Miss Delight Lynn, 8.A., of Dunedin, takes the study oh "Pathways to Certainty." The official opening was held on Thursday evening, Mrs. welconv* ing the delegates and Miss Stevenson outlining the theme of conference. Reports on the various girls activities for the year for each Y.W.C.A. were given 011 Friday morning by the delegates. Progressive development of girls work was revealed in these reports, among the more interesting being n phvsical arts club, based on the Greek standard of physical perfection, by the \nekland Y.W.C.A., a,nd the combined Y.M.C.A. and Y.W.C.A. work in New Plymouth with its extension work in the rural districts. The conference concluded last evening.
