BOISTEROUS STUDENTS

BARRACKING AT BOXING KITTEN THROWN INTO RING [I)Y TKLKGIIAI'H—I'RKSS association] CHIIISTCHURCH. Monday riio liveliness of the student spectators was tho feature of the New Zealand University boxing championships hold on Saturday. Both in the morning at the preliminaries and to a lesser extent at night there prevailed a general boisterousness, which was displayed in various forms, all comparatively harmless, except to those students or hall furnishings involved in rough-and-tumbles. The announcer was continually interrupted during tho preliminaries by halms and other forms of organised barracking. Although ho remonstrated at the delay caused ho took tho "ragging" in good part. A university student present at tho finals of the championships threw a. kitten, only a few weeks old, from high in the gallery to the centre of the boxing on the stage, whero it landed with a sickening thud. It struggled feebly until it was picked up and passed to dressing room attendants. This unpleasant incident marred an otherwise en joy a bio evening.
