CYCLISTS INJURED
EIGHT FALL IN RACE THREE SENT TO HOSPITAL [from OUR OWN" correspondent] WAIHI, Saturday Three riders were injured, none of them seriously,, when eight of twelve competitor:; fell in the .final of .the President's Hand'cap at . the Waihi Cycle Club's sports meeting on. £he cirider track to-da-y< - The men were pited up with" their machinesyis a re-sult-of a blow-out of a tyre on the leading man's cycle just after they had started on the last lap. The three injured men were G. Douglas, of Te Aroha, who suffered from concussion; J. A. Foote, of New Plymouth, received bruises and cuts about the face; and T. McNamnra. of Waihi, severe bruises. After being attended by members.of the Waihi branch of the St. John Ambulance Brigade, and later by Dr. F. G. Barrowclough, they were taken to the Waihi Hospital. The majority tof the other, riders who fell went to their homes after receiving treatment', although some competed ifl other races. THROWN ON TO BOX BOY SEVERELY HURT As a result of falling when his bicycle skidded, -Geoffrey Perkins; aged 16, of 06 Milton Road, Mount Eden, suffered internal injuries 011 Saturday afternoon. He was riding the cycle across a paddock at Mount Roskill wher«- mode, aeroplanes were being flown. He was thrown to the ground, falling on the ■corner of. a- box which he was carrying 0:1 the bicycle. He was-tak§ii to his home in a St. John ambulance and in the evening lie was admitted to the Auckland Hospital. His condition was ?tafed last evening to be fairly, serious. FALL FROM EMBANKMENT YOUTH STRIKES FLOATING LOGS Through falling about loft, from an embankment• at .Freeman's Bay on to some floating logs shortly after thre9 o'clock on Saturday afternoon, W G. Henderson, aged 16, suffered head injuries. The youth, who lives at 3 Charlotto Street, Eden Terrace, was riding a bicycle along Julian's Wall, Halsey Street, near a ramp for hauling up logs, when he fell from his bicycle, which remained on the embankment. The youth's plight was noticed by a passer-by, who went to his assistance Henderson was kept, supported on the logs and a St. John ambulance . was summoned. . Considerable difficulty was experienced in getting Henderson :fcp the ambulance, an ambulance officer having to carry, him on his back oyer the loss and up the ramp. The youth was a( f" mitted to. the Auckland Hospital, n'j condition last, evening being reports as hot serious.
