Mr. and Mrs. Selwyn Averill, Hastings, are spending the Easter holidays in Auckland. Mrs. Desmond Williams, To Awamutu, is the guest of her mother, Mrs. H. M. Hume, Kipling Avenue, Epsom. Mrs. W C'olbeek s visiting her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. G. C'olbeek, Cashmere Hills, Christchurch. Mrs. W. C. Somers, Heme Bay. and Miss L l '. Murray, Carlton Core Road, will leave to-morrow to spend a few days at Rotorua. Miss Lynn Court, whose marriage takes place shortly, was presented with a chiming clock from St. Paul's Methodist Church at Northcote. At the Station Hotel are: —Mrs. R. J. Layne, Hamilton, Mrs. 0. .7. Soanes, Morrinsville, Mrs. .1. Walden, Hamilton, and Mrs. S. Oliver, New Plymouth. Mrs. T. Miller, Thames, Mrs. B. Rennie, Te Awamutu, Mrs. S. Neill, Gisborne, Mrs. G. T. Glenn, Wanganui, and Mrs. T. H. Lowry, Hawke's Bay, are at the Grand Hotel. A dance recital arranged by Miss Moore was given at the Community Hall in Nelson Street last week. Assisting her were a number of well-known performers. Each of the 19 pupils was given an Easter egg, for which Mrs. Marsh was responsible. The name of Miss Jerome Spencer, founder of the Women's Institutes in New Zealand, has been entered on the 801 l of Honour of the Associated Countrywomen of the World. This is limited to one hundred women, and the inclusion of a name is a special honour. r- ■ Visitors at the Hotel Cargen include Miss It. Souter, Cambridge, Mrs. F. Ormond and Misses A. and F. A social event was held at Avondale last week by the Ladies' Welfare Conine ittee. Items were given by the following: Mrs. Scholes, Mrs. Davis, Mrs. Beecroft, Miss Bell, Mr. Mathieson. Supper was served by the committee.
