The additional duty collected since the supplementary Budget of October, 1931, is included in the return of customs duties. With tho single exception of June, the ordinary customs revenue for each month of the year showed a marked advance on the receipts for the corresponding month of last year. The increases have been especially heavy since last October. The increase in the amount of excise collected on beer this year was £8930 as compared with an increase of £OOB7 last year. The amount of sales tax collected last month was £17,218, as compared with £8287 from this source last March, which was tho first complete month in which the tax was in force.
