FORTHCOMING CONTEST VISITORS' PERFORMANCES FORM OF VARIOUS PLAYERS Apart from the fact, that four of the players qualified for match play in the Auckland provincial golf championship at Titirangi on Saturday little light was thrown on the prospects in the Kirk-Windeyer Cup matches at Middlemore next Friday and Sn'.-irday. \\ . R Dobson, one of the New South Wales players, headed the field in the qualifying rounds of the championship, while C. C. Ruwald was also among the first 16. The other three, E. L, Apperly, I'. F. Hughes and 11. M. Cutler, were in the second 16. Prior to the championship the Now Zealand Golf Council had nominated the following four players as likely representatives in the cup contest: —T. H. Horton, B. M. Silk, .1. P. Hornabrook and B. V. Wright. The two lirstnanied qualified on Saturday, but Hornabrook destroyed his second round card after returning a rather disappointing one in the morning. After reaching the turn in 40 he took ten strokes at the twelfth hole. The New South Wales players spent yesterday sightseeing, while the four New Zealanders practised at .Middlemore. Horton was in fine form, and he went round in 72, which included a 6 at one of the short holes. Silk recorded 74 and Hornabrook and Wright each 76. B. H.
